ARTIST STATEMENT

As the owner of Nancy Dodds Gallery, I’ve been in the art field since 1991. Over that time, I’ve added my own collection of custom pet portraits, working primarily in acrylics. What started out as a hobby quickly turned into a passion, and I enjoy capturing the spirit and soulful expressions of my subjects.

One of my main influences was renowned artist Beth Van Hoesen, whose works I sold and personally collected for years. She once told me a story about one of her pieces, Bobcat, whom several owners’ dogs would stare and bark at it. Once my dog Finnegan started barking at my paintings, I knew it was a good sign that I was getting there.

I am an animal lover, with a dog and two cats of my own. I look forward to bringing out the beauty of your cat or dog through light, color, love and humor. Please feel free to contact me for details.
